My name is Peter Riggs, and I was born and raised in North Idaho. I graduated from Lake City High School before earning my undergraduate degree and then my MBA from the University of Idaho.
Instilled with life-long conservative Republican values, I will never stop working to ensure the strongest possible future for Idaho. I have a track record of working with other Idahoans to build businesses and provide local jobs that have made our community stronger, and I will continue to work with elected officials and citizens to move toward a smaller, less intrusive and more efficient government by supporting good public policy that benefits a majority of citizens not just small special interest groups.
As a conservative, I will defend and expand the freedoms we’ve fought for, like the miracle of life and our Second Amendment. I will also fight for new and better solutions for education, growth, property taxes, healthcare, and other critical issues facing Idaho. Oftentimes, some of the most pressing and urgent challenges facing our communities are last in line to be addressed during the legislative session. I will work with others to focus on and bring attention to those issues. The future of Idaho depends on it.
My wife, Tyree was also raised in North Idaho, and together we have two sons. My family has over 80 years of history in this part of the state, and we are proud to be members of this community and Idaho.
I have more than a decade of experience in the franchising business, both as a franchisee and a franchisor, developing businesses and employing people. I first became a Pita Pit franchisee in 2003, and then was fortunate enough to be part of the team that took the reins of Pita Pit USA in the spring of 2005. I’m active with the International Franchise Association through their Legislative Action Group and Franchise Action Network. I also participated locally on the Board of Directors for the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce and the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association.
